As a young man, Antonio Stradivari wanted to make violins which were not only a bit different, but also a bit better than those of his competitors. Obsessed with this aim, it never occurred to him to make brass instruments. Whilst this could have been a mistake from the marketing point of view, Stradivari´s dedication was central to the creation of violins of a quality which made them world famous, even today.
